Roast all the ingredients
from chillies to Bengal gram Dal till golden brown.
Add asafetida and coconut. Fry for 1 minute. Cool
and powder. |

Cooking Method
 |
Wash the dal and add about 7 cups of water and
turmeric. Place on fire (Use a thick bottom dish)
and simmer gently. |

When it is half cooked add the washed rice. |

Mean while soak tamarind in ½ cup of water and
extract the juice. |
 |
When the rice is ¾ cooked add vegetables and onion.
When the vegetables are cooked add salt and
tamarind juice. Simmer without covering for 5
minutes. |

Add the masala powder mixed with a little water. If
the bhath is very thick add a little water. Simmer
for 5 more minutes. Prepare the seasoning and add
to the bhath. serve hot with papads or chips. |
